OK, My love for the T2I is starting to fade a bit. We had a full day shoot that was broken up into four 2 hour demonstrations. We used the Canon XHA1 as the primary camera and used the T2I as b-roll. During the 1st segment the T2I overheated twice. I shot 78 sequences non of them more than :30 seconds long. I think its good to note that we were shooting in a greenhouse and the temperature was pushing 80 some degrees. We then moved over to an indoor conference room that was AC controlled and quite nice. I only shot about a dozen clips in this room and again it overheated. To make a long story short during the next 2 segments, both being in a very cool environment it overheated another 2- 3 times and I never shot more that 30-40 clips in the remaining segments. I also should note that we had lunch break and the camera sat for a good hour before the last two segments. We were able to get everything we needed but it is very frustrating to not know when or if it will overheat. As i said it my last post regarding the T2I, it should NOT be your primary camera. I have decided to contact Canon today and I will let you guys know what I find out. I am hoping it is something stupid like it needs a firmware update or that maybe I just have a bad camera. If anybody out there has any suggestions or info regarding this problem please feel free to post. Thanks.

Joe

Well I had a new problem with the Canon T2I over our last shoot. While shooting many small segments about 2-5 minutes long for about 2 hours or so, I received a red temperature icon on the screen. I had to quickly do a google search to confirm the code, (thank you iphone) but I had a really good idea that it was overheating. I let the camera sit for about 10 minutes while I switched over to a back up Canon HV40 mini dv tape camera. After sitting about 10 minutes we got through the rest of the shoot no problem. I am loving this camera but be aware it should not be your primary. We now use it primarily for cutaways or b-roll footage. Its also good to keep in mind that it only shoots for about 12-14 minutes before it will break into a second clip. I have avoided doing this by stopping the recording during a natural break in the action. I plan on revisiting the two T2I posts with footage we shot as soon as I get a minute or as soon as this job is over. Ill also post some pics of how we have modified the cam for our shoots. Thanks all!

Shot HD video and stills today in some low light settings and noticed a red dot and a blue dot on my images and video. I believe they are called hot pixels. I remedied by placing the lens cap on and running the manual censor clean. It will tell you to power off when you are finished. I let it sit for about 10 seconds before switching power off then back on. Problem solved. I’ll try to post some pics shortly.

Hi Joseph,

Pulsar is currently experiencing an issue where SiriusXM often gives an unexpected response when you attempt to play a channel. This issue results in the following error message:

“Stream Playback Error: Flash: Failed to connect”

We are aware of this issue and are working hard to solve it permanently. In the meantime, you should still be able to play SiriusXM in a web browser with their web player:

https://www.siriusxm.com/player/

Pulsar itself will automatically notify you of any additional updates. We’ll also be posting messages on our company weblog (http://rogueamoeba.com/utm/) and our Twitter account @RogueAmoeba (http://twitter.com/rogueamoeba).
